Verse for Today
Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. (Psalm 119:34)
I remember sitting on an airplane as it flew across the Atlantic and reading Psalm 119:34. As I
read I prayed that prayer so fervently and sincerely, “Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall
observe it with my whole heart.” The Lord will give us understanding
if we sincerely want it. We need the understanding to know what God is talking about and how to apply His
eternal Word to our lives. Once we understand God’s laws we must dedicate
ourselves to the keeping of them. As a child we may have said, “Alright, I will do it, but I don’t
like it.” That is not the attitude with which we obey God. We should keep the
laws of the Lord joyfully with all our hearts. Determine today
to walk willingly in the ways of the Lord and you will be blessed. ~~~
