An Upward Look

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

Psalm 5:3

Scripture Verses for Today

By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, yea, we wept, when we remembered Zion.  (Psalm 137:1)     We hanged our harps upon the willows in the midst thereof.  (Psalm 137:2)

Have you lost your song?  The people of Judah did.  Because of their wickedness the Lord had permitted Nebuchadnezzar to carry them away captive.  Arriving in Babylon they sat down by the rivers and wept, remembering their homeland that they would never see again.  They hung their harps upon the willows; their song was gone.

How do we lose our song?  Being out of God’s will is the main reason.  Sometimes we let the loss of things such as health, finances, or friends rob us of our song.  The psalmist declared in Psalm 42 that even “in the night His song shall be with me.”  Count your blessings and you will find they outweigh your burdens.

Judah’s captors pleaded with them to sing the beautiful songs of Zion again.  Someone needs your song.  Don’t ever hang your harp upon a willow; bless others with your song today!     ~~~
