Verse for Today
Praise ye the LORD. Sing unto the LORD a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints. (Psalm
149:1)
Our “praise” is sometimes as dead as four o’clock in the morning. This Psalm encourages
us to engage in joyful praise. Observe these statements in Psalm 149: Let Israel rejoice, let the children
of Zion be joyful, let them praise his name, let them sing praises, let the saints be joyful, let them sing aloud, and let
the high praises of God be in their mouth. Seven times we read the word “let”
which would indicate that we tend to refrain from letting the true praise from the heart come out. When
we are blessed to the point of rejoicing Satan whispers that it is not appropriate, the flesh argues that it is not dignified,
and the world brands us as a nut. Do not listen to those voices; listen only to your heart.
Next time in church, let’s remember to let the joyful praises come out! ~~~
