30 Scripture
Verse for Today
The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer; (Proverbs 30:25)
Thomas Edison once said, “Invention is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.” Here in
the book of Proverbs a diligent worker is compared to little ants which work faithfully in the summer coming and going to
lay up food for the winter. Those tiny, annoying creatures can teach us a big lesson. In
every facet of our lives there is a necessity of preparation.
Spiritually, we must get ready to die before that time comes.
Economically, we must lay aside for the emergency that eventually will come. Many households carelessly
spend every dollar they earn on unnecessary items such as eating out, entertainment, and sports and then have no means to
repair their car when it breaks down. In today’s
society, we see those who are lazy bums, expecting the government to keep them up. God’s answer to
them is “if any would not work, neither should he eat.” It is good and right to help the elderly
and afflicted of our society, but those who are young and healthy need to learn the lesson of the ant.
We as Christians must set a good example and diligently prepare for the future. Those who fail to
prepare, prepare to fail.
Scripture
Verse for Today
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be
called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6)
Hundreds
of years before that first Christmas Isaiah told of the coming of Jesus Christ into this world. Oh, what
a day it would be when from a virgin womb the Christ child would be born as a human in a barn in Bethlehem. The shepherds would
rejoice at the news of His birth. They would leave the hillsides near Bethlehem and rush to the stable
to bow before the child called “Wonderful”. The wise men of the east
would see His star in the sky and travel for many weeks across the desert sands to worship the “Prince of Peace”,
presenting Him with precious gifts. He changed the lives of all He met. Each
year decorations go up, gifts are exchanged and a joyous celebration takes place around the world to remember the time that
God gave to us the greatest gift ever given – His son! ~~~
