An Upward Look

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

Scripture Verse for Today

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the LORD, she shall be praised.  (Proverbs 31:30)

What is the most desirable characteristic in a wife?  Favor?  Beauty?  No.  The most desirable characteristic is her fear (respect) of the Lord.

Hollywood certainly projects a different image!  The despicable divorce rates and deteriorating home lives of its “stars” reflect their misleading ideas and unbiblical standards of marriage!

Proverbs 31 describes a godly wife.  If a young man seeking a wife would list his priorities according to this chapter, his marriage would be more successful.  If a young woman seeking a husband would direct her life according to this chapter, she would find the right husband and be a real blessing to her home.

When we live according to godly precepts we will be truly blessed!     ~

Scripture Verse for Today

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.  (Isaiah 11:9)

Isaiah describes the wonderful state of the future of God’s people!  Had it not been for sin this is the way we would be living today.

God created this earth and all that is in it in six days.  It was perfect.  But when Adam and Eve sinned, it brought all kinds of problems to them and to future inhabitants of this planet.   Sin brought eventual death to all humanity.  Briars and weeds began to grow resulting in man having to labor for his food.  Violence became dominant resulting in the destruction of all living except Noah and his family.

Through Isaiah’s prophecy God has promised restoration and hope.  Lift up your head, your redemption draweth nigh!     ~
