An Upward Look

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

Scripture Verse for Today

I will go and return to my place, till they acknowledge their offence, and seek my face: in their affliction they will seek me early.  (Hosea 5:15)

Why is it so hard for us humans to acknowledge our sins?  When dealing with others it is easier to say, “You are right,” then it is to say, “I am wrong.”  Often we want to blame others for our failures.  Sometimes we, like King Saul, when faced with our sins will proclaim that we have done nothing wrong.

One of the hardest statements to express to God is, “I have sinned.”  God knew that to get His people to do this, He would have to hide His face from them and afflict them.  Only then would they turn back to Him, repent and be faithful again.

Let’s learn from this example and save ourselves some trouble!     ~
