An Upward Look

My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee, and will look up.

Scripture Verse for Today

And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.  (Matthew 1:21)

NOTE: As you have probably already observed, I pick the verse for the day from the text of the daily Bible reading; therefore, all verses so far this year have been from the Old Testament.  Today we start reading the New Testament, so the verses for the remainder of the year will be in the New Testament.  I trust that you are blessed by these verses!  - Darvin Oakes

What a wonderful announcement!  The son that was soon to be born to Mary would be the Savior of the world.  His name would be JESUS, which means Savior.  Since all have sinned and come short of the glory of God, and all are in need of a savior, you would think that the whole world would be happy to hear the glorious announcement of a coming savior.  Not everyone was thrilled.

Herod wanted to find Him and kill Him.  A few years later the Pharisees and Sadducees opposed Jesus and finally plotted to kill Him.  Even today hateful people are out to destroy Christians and Christianity.  Still others do not hate Christ or His followers; they just fail to trust the wonderful Savior of the world for their personal salvation.

Take advantage today of every opportunity to witness, proudly proclaiming Him as your Lord and Savior.     ~~~
