David, a shepherd from his youth, reveals the character and care of his Lord by comparing
Him to a shepherd. He thought of God as one who loves him dearly and would do anything to protect and provide
for him. What does Psalm 23:1 say to us?
“The Lord”
tells me that my shepherd is the Creator. “Is” tells me that He is presently at this moment
watching over me. “Shepherd” tells me that God is my all sufficient provider. The
words, “my” and “I” mean that I can personally claim Him and He is affecting my life.
“Shall” means that I can be 100% sure. And “not want” reveals that this
Gentle Shepherd will supply ALL my needs.
Is He your shepherd?
